I had some extra time today so I decided to indulge in an experiment I've been wanting to try for quite a while now.

I used the Lomography lens adapter to put my Diana F+ plastic lens on my Blackmagic Cinema Camera.

Shot at 2.5k (2400x1350px) Cinema DNG Compressed RAW.

I'm a huge fan of the results, which were exactly what I hoped they would be - a hazy, dreamy, diffuse-glow world where everything looks in focus and out of focus at the same time.

I graded these clips in Davinci Resolve and finished with Film Convert using the FJProv setting and 16mm grain.

I had tried the Diana lens on my canon DSLR before, but I love how well the Blackmagic handles the intense color chromatic color fringing, and it's superior dynamic range helps reign in the extreme highlight blooming caused by the nature of the plastic lens. Paired with the 16mm grain from FilmConvert, I think this has a very natural, albeit retro, film look to it.

I'm sure I'll be putting this technique to use again soon!
