Update - Video has been removed for now as to not conflict with Evan's newer musical ventures, but I'm leaving the stills up.

Once again I was able to create another music video for my friend Evan Roth.

This video was especially fun because I was encouraged to do what I enjoy most: to recreate the look of something dated!

To push the theme of growing up, we decided that making the video look like an old MTV or VH1 style music video would be fun and would resonate with the nostalgic 80's/90's generation that we're apart of.

These types of projects are a fun challenge because I have to use my modern resources like After Effects and DSLR camera to create a dated, analog video look. Part of a successful result is being able to convey the dated look without drawing attention to the modern methods of execution.

Some things that contribute to an 80's or 90's aesthetic are more obvious, like the hand animated Title intro and over-saturated neon colors, while others are more discrete - such as choosing to shoot at 30 fps instead of the more modern 24fps, as well as reducing the video resolution and adding old TV warping and burn-ins.

We even contemplated shooting standard definition 4:3, but ultimately decided that being a promotional tool, we didn't want to confuse people into thinking this wasn't a current band!

Of course, it also helps that the song itself has a sound and style reminiscent of mid-80's pop groups.

Really proud of the result and video! If you dig the single, you can buy it on iTunes here:
